Independent mediation services

I act as an independent mediator in commercial and civil disputes where parties seek a confidential, flexible, and practical pathway to resolution.

Mediation offers parties the opportunity to resolve disputes on their own terms, with the assistance of a neutral facilitator who helps clarify issues, test positions, and explore workable outcomes. My role is not to decide the dispute, but to support constructive dialogue and informed decision-making.

Why appoint me as mediator

Parties and counsel engage me as mediator for my independence, judgment, and ability to manage complex issues calmly and effectively.

I bring:

  • Over 18 years’ experience in legal practice
  • A strong foundation in civil litigation and dispute resolution
  • An informed understanding of how disputes evolve and resolve
  • A neutral, structured, and respectful facilitation style
  • The ability to engage with both legal and commercial realities

I am independent of any law firm or commercial interest, and my focus is on helping parties reach durable outcomes that reflect their interests and constraints.

Types of disputes mediated

I mediate a wide range of commercial and contractual disputes in areas such as:

  • Technology
  • Manufacturing
  • Agribusiness
  • Professional Services

While I offer specialist services through separate platforms, this mediation practice is intentionally generalist. It is designed to be adaptable to different industries and dispute types.

Mediation approach

My approach to mediation is structured but flexible, and responsive to the needs of the parties and the nature of the dispute.

Mediations commonly involve:

  • Pre-mediation engagement to understand the issues and objectives
  • Joint and private sessions as appropriate
  • Focused discussion of both legal and non-legal considerations
  • Reality-testing of positions in a neutral and constructive manner

The process is always guided by the principles of voluntariness, confidentiality, and procedural fairness.

Confidentiality and candour

Confidentiality is central to effective mediation. Parties can engage openly in discussions, explore options, and test potential outcomes without concern that the process will later prejudice their position.

I work carefully to create a professional environment where parties feel able to speak candidly and consider resolution realistically.

Remote and in-person mediations

Mediations are frequently conducted via secure video-conferencing platforms, allowing parties and counsel to participate efficiently across jurisdictions.

In-person mediations can be arranged where appropriate and agreed. The format is chosen to best support meaningful engagement and productive discussion.

Role clarity and neutrality

As mediator, I do not act as advocate, adviser, or decision-maker. I take conflicts and disclosure obligations seriously and ensure that my role remains neutral throughout the process.

Where a mediation does not resolve all issues, parties remain free to pursue arbitration, litigation, or other avenues without prejudice.

Appointment and enquiries

I accept mediation appointments by agreement of the parties or on referral from counsel.
