Civil Disputes

Martin takes on a range of civil cases, from relatively minor private disputes to large-scale litigation between multinational corporations.

Martin deals with: negligence, professional misconduct, commercial contracts, farming and manufacturing, intellectual property, duties of care, special relationships, trusts, shareholder disputes, insurance claims, foreign judgments, appeals and arbitrations. These types of cases tend to come before the High Court and appellate courts.

Martin’s articles on legal processes and his book Civil Litigation for Non-Lawyers has helped tens of thousands of Kiwis gain access to justice.

Those resources cover several courts and tribunals that Martin no longer deals with: the Employment Relations Authority, Disputes Tribunal, Residential Tenancies Tribunal, and the Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal.

Criminal Defence

Martin represents criminal defendants in all courts and at all stages of the criminal justice process. That includes the Parole Board and the High Court, as well as the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
